Parenting skills training is an educational and experiential program for parents that originated from Play Therapy.

Filial therapy is an applied play therapy method involving parents in the play process, focusing on the crucial parent-child relationship and teaching parents how to connect with their child according to their needs, using a play session once a week. 

How does it work?  

Filial  therapy is a special 10-week training program for parents. A group of 4-5 parents meet with a therapist without their children once a week at a pre-arranged time

time for about 90 minutes.

The therapist teaches parents techniques such as (reflective listening, setting boundaries,

giving options, valuing the child, reflecting the child's feelings, etc.), which the parent uses it during half an hour of play with the child at home.

The parents records the play sessions for half an hour (e.g. at home on a mobile phone - he sends the recordings therapist). Recordings are a wonderful tool for a parent's further self-growth.

It enables the child to:

• better understand your feelings (sadness, anger, fear...),

•  understand your needs better,

•   reduction of anxiety, shyness, indecision, aggression,

•  improve of the relationship with parents, 

•   to improve relations with siblings and peers,

•  strengthen one's self-confidence, trust in themselves and others,

It allows the parent to:

• to better understanding of the child's experience, emotions and needs in their world, 

• setting limits to maintain safe boundaries, 

•  acquiring more effective parenting skills,

•    increasing sensitivity to their children reducing parenting stress, and fostering positive changes in the family environment
